China Lead Smelters Report Cuts and Halts after Latest Environmental Protection Inspections, SMM Reports

SMM survey finds production at domestic lead smelters in other regions, not included in the list of 7 inspected regions, has also been affected by environmental crackdowns. 

SHANGHAI, Dec. 12 (SMM) – SMM survey finds production at domestic lead smelters in other regions, not included in the list of 7 inspected regions, has also been affected by environmental crackdowns. 

The second round of 7 environmental protection inspection teams arrived in seven regions from November 24 to 30 to supervise environmental protection work, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Hubei, Chongqing, Shaanxi and Gansu.

It is heard that primary lead smelters in Henan had cut output, including Anyang Minshan Nonferrous Metals, Xinling Lead Industry and Jiyuan Hongyang Lead Industry. 

Secondary lead smelters in Tianjin and Hebei have been also required to cut output due to heavy air pollution. It rumors that many secondary refined lead smelters in Hebei have shut down and Tianjin Toho Lead Recycling already cut output by 20%. In other news, some secondary lead smelters in Yunnan’s Qujing and Kunming suspended output.
